Definition of edit warring

Edit warring is a behavior, typically exemplified by the use of repeated edits to "win" a content dispute. It is different from a bold, revert, discuss (BRD) cycle. Reverting vandalism and banned users is not edit warring; at the same time, content disputes, even egregious point of view edits and other good-faith changes do not constitute vandalism. Administrators often must make a judgment call to identify edit warring when cooling disputes. Administrators currently use several measures to determine if a user is edit warring.

Definition of the three-revert rule (3RR)

An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Violations of this rule normally attract blocks of at least 24 hours. Any appearance of gaming the system by reverting a fourth time just outside the 24-hour slot is likely to be treated as a 3RR violation. See here for exemptions.

The editor has been edit warring at Gyanesh Kumar, a BLP article. Their edits have included violations of WP:NPOV, unexplained removal of sources, changing content without adding or changing the sources with them, adding promotional content sourced to a news article which mentions none of the things that the content states, among others. When told to gain consensus at talk per WP:ONUS, and warned of edit warring. They then decided to take the matter to WP:ANI and accused me of vandalism, even though their content had been reverted by several other editors. Edit warring by ~2026-20163-49

User is repeatedly reverting my government backed sourced edit without explanation and providing any sources.Also he has been doing unnecessary edits without any sources in other pages too with different IPs. I asked him respectfully to add sources, i thought after adding government backed source he will understand but he is reverting again and again.( Sites ending with "gov.in" are official government website in india).

Comments: User:Semsürî is repeatedly reverting edits on the Kovancılar page without establishing consensus. The edits remove or alter sourced information and appear to be disruptive.

User:Semsürî is repeatedly inserting and restoring information that appears to be inaccurate, despite explanations and evidence provided in edit summaries.

The name "Kovancılar", as supported by available sources, was given by Turkish migrants who came from Romania in 1934. The name is a direct transfer from the original place name in Romania, and therefore does not have an equivalent in another language.

I have attempted to explain this and provide clarification, but the user continues to revert my edits without addressing the sources or engaging in meaningful discussion.

This behavior is disruptive and does not align with Wikipedia's principles of verifiability and consensus. I request that the edits be reviewed and appropriate action be taken.

Comments:

This user is continually adding excessive content to Dustin Martin's article despite being warned (you'll see that they've received several notices over the last year, so doesn't appear to be learning) and several requests to discuss at the article talk page or project level. As I explained to them, there was a set of achievements for individual players that was agreed upon at project level (awards of significance such as All-Australian team, club best and fairest, etc.), with other things like minor club awards (e.g. fifth place in club B&F) or fan/media-voted awards (e.g. 22under22 team) considered unnecessary, but they've been ignoring this and adding them back. Only just today did they reach out to me directly (though not to discuss in any meaningful way, in my opinion), but not at the article talk page or at project level as requested (should be noted that I wasn't the only person to revert this user's edits); comments like this one aren't super helpful either. 4TheWynne (talk • contribs) 00:58, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
