Hello. The article Pyrola has numerous technical terms with no link to an article defining the term. I made links for two of the terms (racemose and inflorescence). I was looking for a tool that would scan an article and find terms without links and automatically suggest a change. Such a tool apparently exists, but can I get to it in the article? "Suggested edits". It looks mostly to be a training tool but might be useful if it takes racemose to [[Raceme|racemose]] and prompts for accept/reject if racemose is bare and if it iterates through the article looking for stuff to do. Google AI may be leading me astray when it claims I should be seeing a magic wand or a sparkles icon when in visual edit. Mak cranelly (talk) 09:59, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

I do have one question about the Notability rule of wikipedia. My favorite music artist is a smaller artist, around 300k monthly listeners. I would really like to give her an article but it would suck to put time into an article that is removed for not being notable enough. I've ready the notability guideline wayyy too many times, so I'd be happy to help! The policy says that you need multiple reliable sources that significantly cover the subject (i.e., Issbrokie) and are independent of her. For example: an interview isn't independent, so it doesn't count, and a news article mentioning her name once doesn't either. But a whole news article about her does. It sounds strict, but you should realize that Wikipedia isn't a place for gossip. If there isn't enough information about someone to write about them without some guesswork, then it's good to wait until there is to write an article about them. Now, as mentioned in the little footnote before, there are some good tell-tale signs for musicians to find out whether they're notable. I'm not going to list them all here, as it would be redundant, but I'd recommend you to go check them! I'll say beforehand: I did some research, and I don't think she's notable, sadly. @Jacobolus: I believe I'm being more careful about what I do. I do many edits, but I make sure they're correct, and I check if I'm unsure. I don't want to behave like a meatbot, but I don't completely see what the problem with my behavior is. WikipediholicRat (talk) 23:31, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

You're making many hundreds of edits per day, beyond people's capacity to really individually check them. At least some of them don't really make sense to me. For example in special:diff/1366951473 you changed the hyphen in "48-0001" to a dash "48–0001". Why? Why should this one be treated differently than the immediately adjacent "48-0000", "50-0000", "51-0000", and "52-0000", all of which still use hyphens. This is clearly not a range of numbers, so what is the dash supposed to be doing? –jacobolus (t) 23:53, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

It's summer vacation, and I have way too much time on my hands. I had one week where I spent 90 hours editing Wikipedia. My parents are somewhat concerned about me, and my friends are getting annoyed that I haven't had a full conversation without mentioning Wikipedia in the last month. It's probably unhealthy, but it is possible. I'm putting a lot of effort into Wikipedia. It's practically dwarfed every other interest or activity I have. I can't tell you how to spend your time, but I think you'd find it more rewarding, and it would be in my opinion much more useful to the project, if you spent 90 hours writing 1 or 2 good articles instead of making 1000 edits changing curly quotes to straight quotes or changing from one template shortcut name to another. –jacobolus (t) 00:54, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

I apologize for this one. I remember that edit, and I was too focused in making sure that I really touched only the caption and not the filename. After checking a few times, I pushed it through. It seems I forgot to simply looked up; if I remember correctly, I thought the heading was only shown as surrounding text for the diff.
