ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 19 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

ReFill

[edit]

This tool is one of the most error-prone in the history of Wikipedia, and there is nobody maintaining it. The responsibility of any errors it creates is the fault of person using the tool. You are responsible for every edit, even when you choose to use buggy tools. Please see this edit Special:Diff/1254741850/1256841759:

  • You broke a URL, changing this to that (the original problem was an errant space in the middle of the URL and was easily fixed by simply deleting the space).
  • You added a spam title "Izyan.com is for sale | HugeDomains"

The fact is, ReFill can be useful. But it can also cause a lot of damage. It's sort of like operating a high-end motorcycle, it requires training and experience not to wreck. -- GreenC 17:03, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I am aware of some bugs in Refill. This one slipped my attention.
Thanks for fixing them. Rofraja (talk) 17:36, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just for your information, here also appeared also a ReFill error. --Cyfal (talk) 15:44, 1 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

No problem, without noticing you reverted my update, I applied the same update again, because it appeared in my "{{Cleanup Bare URL}} - without actual bare URLs" watch list again. :-) Rofraja (talk) 12:32, 15 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Refill

[edit]

Great work you're doing on bareurls but can I remind you of the need to check what the tool does. In this edit you didn't correct it when it diverted lesfreres.org to domyessay.com (usurpers) and americanutopiabroadway.com to an Indonesian gambling site (see WP:JUDI) Lyndaship (talk) 18:25, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing me on these redirects. They slipped my mind. I've added a url-status=usurped to both citations.
In my defense, you would have ended up on those sites without my edits. :-) Rofraja (talk) 18:51, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. You do so many of these it's inevitable that occasionally you won't notice something is wrong. Please add any you spot usurped to gambling sites to WP:JUDI Lyndaship (talk) 19:32, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Afraid I've come across another one this morning . I would have hoped you would have spotted this as it was the only amendment and the gambling guff makes it obvious it's been redirected. The end result of allowing this sort of error through is that when waybackmedic comes through it will see the domain which has been substituted and provide an archive for this - see next edit, losing the cite for ever Lyndaship (talk) 08:51, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Global Rainwater Management Program (GRMP)

[edit]

@Rofraja, I was searching for some Water Conservation solutions at a city scale, where I came across, one of your edits namely Global Rainwater Management Program (GRMP) on a article called "Rainwater Management". It shows a comprehensive program for rain and snow water management and conservation. The subject also looks solid as it has been mentioned on several Global Platforms like United Nations, Global Water Partnership etc. But what interest us the most was RETURN ON INVESTMENT (ROI) part. This part makes it more interesting as all actions for sustainability (SDGs) are generally considered as donations/Grants/CSRs where this framework says, One can make profits from sustainability works under Global Rainwater Management Program (GRMP).

Can you please help us to know more.

Thank you 116.73.218.226 (talk) 13:14, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Bare URLs

[edit]

Placing [ ] around a url does not negate the bare url designation. At a bare minimum, a corrected link should have some way of easily identifying the specific work referenced when the link goes dead, so a title of the work, and a date/author/publisher would do it. Please see Wikipedia:Bare URLs, and please use the cite web/cite news/cite book/cite journal templates when possible.

Also, please don't put wikilinks in the external link's display text, that is a tracked syntax error due to the very confusing/deceptive way they display where there's no clear designation between the two links and which page you'll navigate to depending on where you have your mouse along the hyperlinked text (MW:Help:Lint errors/wikilink-in-extlink).

Thank you, Zinnober9 (talk) 15:24, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Mahammad Mammadov (scientist) moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Mahammad Mammadov (scientist). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and The majority is unsourced. Everything must have a source. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ldm1954 (talk) 12:42, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I agree that this is a very badly sourced article. I only fixed some bare URLs however, so please don't make this my problem. I don't care about this arcticle, so I'm definitely not going to improve it. Rofraja (talk) 13:19, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
