conflicting values for pKa1
[edit]Before I recently edited the article, it listed two conflicting values for the pKa1. The first instance was -10 and was given in the introductory table, with a reference to (https://chem.libretexts.org/Under_Construction/Purgatory/Book%3A_Organic_Chemistry_with_a_Biological_Emphasis_(Soderberg)/Reference_Tables/Representative_acid_constants). The second instance was -3 and was given in the "acidity" section, with a reference to (https://www2.chemistry.msu.edu/faculty/reusch/VirtTxtJml/acidity.htm). Confusingly, the reference for the second instance of -3 actually lists the value as -6.62, but other sources (eg https://fdslive.oup.com/www.oup.com/uscompanion/us/static/companion.websites/9780197651896/Table_7.2_Acidity_constants_for_common_acids.pdf) do actually give a value of pKa1 = -3.
Yet other reference (eg https://chem.libretexts.org/Courses/University_of_Arkansas_Little_Rock/Chem_1403%3A_General_Chemistry_2/Text/16%3A_Acids_and_Bases/16.03%3A_Equilibrium_Constants_for_Acids_and_Bases) just give the pKa1 as "strong". It seems like this strategy (that is, giving the pKa1 as "strong") is more common than giving an exact value. I think just giving the pKa1 in the article as "strong" is the best strategy unless and until anyone can find a suitable reference to resolve the issue.
