Parent Case?

The info box says the parent case is .44 American, but if Wikipedia facts on that cartridge are right then the base or head diameter is .017" different. I think .017" difference qualifies as an entirely new cartridge. Also I doubt the cartridge case was made .020" longer to keep the Russian cartridge out of American chambers... 19th century manufacturing tolerances were not THAT bad that a .017" larger cartridge would drop in plus .44 American was a heeled bullet cartridge which means chambers would be bored straight thru all about the same diameter and have no step-down to block a longer case from entering anyway. More likely the longer case was just to cover up the lubrication grooves as the Russians asked for, without having to seat the bullet too deeply in a short case and thereby reduce powder capacity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.213.20.170 (talk) 23:13, 28 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
