We went from asking to be listed to running the index
On October 14, 2026, ScriptMasterLabs published a survey with an uncomfortable conclusion: you cannot submit a paid API to an x402 discovery index. There is no form and no listing endpoint — we probed for one, and POST /discovery/resources returned 405/404 on both Coinbase CDP and PayAI. A resource gets catalogued only when a payment for it settles through a facilitator, and each facilitator's index is an independent shelf. Three weeks later, the survey's premise still holds for everyone else's indexes — but ScriptMasterLabs no longer only rents shelf space. As of November 2, 2026, both SML facilitators — OMNIGATE and 402Proof — publish their own /discovery/resources indexes, and on November 3, 2026 we ran the first full five-index probe and published every count, including the shelf where our own presence quietly died.
The probe: five indexes, read live on November 3, 2026
Every index below was read the way an agent reads it — a plain GET on its public /discovery/resources endpoint, paginated to the end. Read-only: no payments, no settlements, no submissions. A row counts as an SML row in a third-party index only under the strict rule — the row's payment terms name an SML fleet wallet and the resource sits on an SML host.
| Index | Operator | Resources | SML rows | What the count means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OMNIGATE discovery | ScriptMasterLabs | 129 | 129 | SML's own facilitator index — every resource that settles through OMNIGATE |
| 402Proof sidecar discovery | ScriptMasterLabs | 14 | 14 | 13 XRPL partner resources + 1 catalogued from live post-launch traffic |
| Coinbase CDP Bazaar | Coinbase CDP | 107,465 | 177 strict | Full re-crawl; per-host split identical to the November 2 census, row for row |
| PayAI Facilitator | PayAI | 15,153 | 70 | Strict recount (a loose first pass over-counted foreign "claim" URLs at 84 — discarded) |
| Ultravioleta DAO | Ultravioleta DAO | 1,761 | 0 | 55 SML rows on October 24, 2026 — lapsed to zero by today |
| thirdweb | thirdweb | not probed | — | No public /discovery/resources endpoint on record; October 2, 2026 survey counted 33,352 via its own API surface |
The full dated record — endpoints, probe windows, matching rules, and the discarded over-count — is the methodology behind the public health page that now runs this probe daily: https://scriptmasterlabs.com/x402-index-health
The comparable product is the facilitator itself
The October article treated facilitators as landlords. The two SML facilitators are the product this piece is about — the same settlement-as-listing rule, run on shelves we operate:
OMNIGATE settles USDC on Base and Arc and publishes the OMNIGATE discovery index (129 resources at the November 3 probe). 402Proof settles the XRP Ledger, Xahau and Solana — its sidecar publishes the 402Proof discovery index (14 resources), and its XRPL invoice rail serves the partner program whose resources fill that index. Neither facilitator takes custody of a seller's funds: payments settle payer-to-seller, and the facilitator's fee is a separate leg or a stated accrual — never a float we hold.
Pricing at a glance
- OMNIGATE charges 0.005 USDC per settlement on Base, flat, from the first settlement. There is no free allowance.
- OMNIGATE charges 0.005 USDC per settlement on Arc, flat, from the first settlement. There is no free allowance.
- The 402Proof XRPL invoice rail charges 0.01 in the invoice's own asset (RLUSD or USDC) per verified settlement, from the first settlement. There is no free allowance.
- The 402Proof sidecar charges 0.005 USDC per settlement on Solana, flat, from the first settlement.
- The 402Proof sidecar charges 0.01 XAH per third-party settlement on Xahau, flat. SML's own fleet routes are exempt by ownership.
- On the XRPL standard rail, $0.0100 per settlement accrues on the merchant account — it is not deducted from payer funds in flight, and automatic collection is not live; the terms are published in the facilitator's own
/supportedresponse.
| Facilitator | Rails it settles | Facilitator fee | Its discovery index |
|---|---|---|---|
| OMNIGATE | Base (USDC), Arc (USDC) | 0.005 USDC flat per settlement, from the first settlement | 129 resources — https://mcp-x402.onrender.com/discovery/resources |
| 402Proof | XRPL (RLUSD/USDC invoices), Xahau (XAH), Solana (USDC) | 0.01 in-asset per XRPL invoice settlement; 0.005 USDC flat on Solana; 0.01 XAH flat on Xahau (third-party) | 14 resources — https://four02proof-x402-v2-xrpl.onrender.com/discovery/resources |
How to get listed in SML's indexes — from SML
- Declare discovery metadata in your resource's 402 response (the Bazaar discovery extension — the same declaration every index reads).
- Settle one real payment for the resource through OMNIGATE (Base or Arc) or 402Proof (XRPL, Xahau or Solana). The fees above are the whole cost of the rail; the listing is a side effect of the settlement, exactly as it is on CDP's shelf.
- Verify the listing by querying that facilitator's
/discovery/resources— per index, not once globally. Our own probe page re-checks every index daily: https://scriptmasterlabs.com/x402-index-health - Track unique payers over 30 days, not presence. Presence is a side effect; payers are distribution.
What did not change
Nobody cross-posts you. Our 177 rows inside CDP's Bazaar exist because payments settled through CDP, separately from anything our own facilitators did. Settling through OMNIGATE lists you in OMNIGATE's index — it does not put you on Coinbase's shelf, and this page does not pretend otherwise.
Presence is still not demand. An independent crawl of the CDP index in October 2026 counted 77% of listed resources at two payers or fewer in 30 days. A second wallet choosing to pay you is the first unit of demand; a listing is proof the pipe works. We do not manufacture the payer metric either — no self-payments are fired to inflate unique-payer counts, in this probe or anywhere else.
Listings rot, including ours. Ultravioleta held 55 SML rows on October 24; today it holds zero, and nothing announced the change. Coinbase deletes resources after 30 days without a settlement. That is why the probe is a published page on a daily schedule rather than a launch checklist: probe the claim, not the launch.
Discovery still is not the decision. An index answers "what can an agent find?" It never answers "should the agent pay?" — that prior question is a decision gate's job, and it is the other half of what SML sells: https://scriptmasterlabs.com/verdict-protocol (Verdict Protocol, $0.25 USDC per decision, $0.01 per seal, Base). Score before signature, seal the decision, then settle on whichever shelf the purchase belongs to — ours included.
